A project for an Urban Design Skills course, this project involved creating a site design for several parcels adjacent to the future Green Line Station at Union Square in Somerville.
Like Somerville itself, our community is built on imagination and innovation, but is not made of Fluff™. We have created places to live, play, and work, often at the same time. Our residential apartments are surrounded by child friendly playgrounds and creative spaces, while artist studios, maker spaces, and co-working centers create the foundation of a Somerville-style light industry. Built with the environment in mind, our buildings are designed to meet LEED standards and our parks to mitigate rain water. Our pedestrian paths provide a connection between the new square at McGrath Highway and Somerville Avenue and the new “T” stop at Union Square. And what is a Somerville home without a porch? Ours overlooks the rail line and provides views into Cambridge and Boston.
