A hypothetical marketing series for the MBTA’s Commuter Rail’s Weekend Fare Pass.
How might we re-envision how we market the commuter rail?
This project offers conceptual commuter rail station posters for the vibrant places along the MBTA’s commuter rail lines. Each community pictured is one I’ve worked, studied or lived in. I’ve come to know the unique delight of these places, less launchpads to get to Boston and more living and breathing centers in and of themselves. These posters are inspired by vintage Amtrak posters, and celebrate often forgotten spaces accessible on Boston’s Commuter Rail system. Often these are historical centers of immigration, where new Massachusetts residents have arrived, across centuries—and are places of hard work, tenacity and diversity. These are exactly the types of places that would be made even more accessible under a system connected by an electrified, regional rail system that could serve our regional centers, like Massachusetts’ Gateway Cities.
